Our advice here is simple: by all means check out online reviews, but then get in touch with the holiday rental owner directly! Ask pertinent questions and look for a prompt and informative reply. Or telephone the owner - with software such as Skype this is no longer a costly affair (but do bear in mind international time zones!) This direct contact with the owner is in our opinion essential, and the best guide to choosing the holiday home that is best for you. We deliberately enable you to contact the owner (by email, by telephone, or via their own website) for the very simple reason that we believe this direct interaction is utterly preferable to holiday rental sites that act as a middleman, and only put you in direct contact with the owner once you have booked - and already paid a deposit for your holiday!

This personal contact is in fact equally important for vacation rental owners - they want you to be fully aware of all their holiday rental has to offer, to understand its location, to know about things to see and do in the area, and to learn of any special requests that you may have, so that they can ensure that their property is a perfect match for you. In doing so, they can ensure that you enjoy a perfect holiday and become their ambassador, telling all your friends about your wonderful stay!

Getaway Earth has partnered with Dan Childs to bring holiday home owners a professional short film making service showcasing the personal side of you and your home. Not only is it an effective marketing tool but it also allows renters to book with confidence having seen the "real you".

Our first film features John Hobson who owns 4 lodges in the Lake District. The brief was simple: Capture both personality and a sense of emotion. We'd love to know if you think we've achieved that. John has also written a "making of" article to give you a sense of what the filming experience was like, especially for those who hate being in the limelight!
