My page is your admin section where you can add, amend or delete listings. It is organised as a series of tabs across the top. The default tab which you arrive at after logging in is the "Manage Properties" tab. This is because we believe you will spend most time in this tab.
Select "Add New Property" from "My Page" and then complete the form adding as much detail as you can to advertise your property.
This is the heading that your listing will be given and is what renters will see when search results are returned.
In our experience it is often useful to know not just how many bedrooms and how many people can be accommodated, but also the number of beds. If you have a sofa bed this should be counted as a bed. A double bed and a single bed are both regarded as one bed.
We allow listings in one of five major currencies: GBP (British Pound), USD (US Dollar), EUR (Euro), AUD (Australian Dollar) and ZAR (South African Rand). If you find this restrictive please get in touch via info@getawayearth.com and we will consider adding more.
We ask for a low and high price because we aim, in time, for renters to be able to search on price. But of course we understand that your pricing structures are more complex, taking account of seasonality, public holidays, special offers, etc. As such we have added a free text box in which you can add specific pricing details which will then be displayed in the pricing section of your listing.
The Key Details sections will be presented at the top of your listing, along with price and sleeping details, so use these to highlight what is special about your property, allowing potential renters to make a quick decision if it is suitable.
Yes you can. We have chosen to offer you the ability to link to the HomeAway Connect calendar system rather than create our own. We wanted to avoid asking you to manage a calendar system just for Getaway Earth and, as one of the most widely used systems, we felt HomeAway Connect was the best option. Once you have a HomeAway Connect calendar, you simply need to paste the URL given on their site into the calendar box on your listing.
To find the code from tripfilms.com, view the video you wish to use on their website. Underneath the video there will be a box that says "Embed". Copy this code and enter it in the "Add Property" tab or the "Edit Details" section of the "Manage Properties" tab. The size of the video will be automatically adjusted by Getaway Earth to fit your property page.
You can add a YouTube video to your listing by pasting the “Embed” code that is found on YouTube in the "Embed Video" box in your listing. To find the code, view the YouTube page showing the video you want to use. In the top right hand corner of the page there will be a box that says "Embed" (see screenshot below). Copy this code and enter it in the "Add Property" tab or the "Edit Details" section of the "Manage Properties" tab. The size of the video will be automatically adjusted by Getaway Earth to fit your property page.
You can add a Google Video to your listing in a similar way to the above YouTube process. To find the code from Google Video, view the video you wish to embed in the video.google page. In the top right hand corner of the page there will be a box that says "Embed". If you cannot see the box, click on the link that says "Embed" and the box will appear (see screenshot below). Copy this code and enter it in the "Add Property" tab or the "Edit Details" section of the "Manage Properties" tab. The size of the video will be automatically adjusted by Getaway Earth to fit your property page.
Click on the 'Manage Properties' tab in the mypage section. Then click on pencil icon, to edit details for the property which has the video you wish to remove. This will open the 'Edit Details' page. To remove the video, click on the box with the video code in it and delete all the code leaving a blank box. Make sure you then click on 'Save Changes' at the bottom of the page.
If you have a Facebook page for your property then you can add a Facebook Badge to your Getaway Earth property listing. To do this you need to get the badge code by visiting the Facebook Widgets page and clicking on the 'Page badge' link, see screen shot below.
Our page layouts only accept badges that are created using the 'Vertical' template. To make sure the badge is using this template click on 'Edit Badge':
Then select the 'Verticle' option and click on the 'Save' button. (See below):
Finally to obtain the correct code, click on the 'Other' button and copy the generated code by clicking in the textbox and pressing 'Ctrl' + 'C' or if using a Mac, press 'Cmd' + 'C' (See below):
Return to Getaway Earth and paste this code in to the 'Facebook Badge' box, which is on the add new property form or the edit property details form. Then click 'Save Changes'. Your Getaway Earth property listing should now have a Facebook Badge displayed down the right hand side of the page.
Email us at info@getawayearth.com or visit our contact page and we'll consider adding it to the lists. Our aim is to provide owners with the best tools to advertise their property so unless you have a request that we feel is unsuitable we'll be happy to make additions.
Try to be as specific as possible, using the full street address, region and zip/post code. Remember you can't change a location once it is set so if you are having problems then email us at info@getawayearth.com or visit our contact page and we shall do our best to assist. Please remember the location maps are powered by Google Maps and so some aspects are beyond our control.
No. We understand that some people would prefer not to provide that exact information in such a public place. You can instead choose to list only the street name, or be even more generic by listing just the town/city. The address you use will be returned in the info windows that appear once the property icon is clicked on our map.
Yes you can click and drag the icon. But please note this can only be done when in the "Add New Property" tab as you create your property listing. Once the listing is saved you cannot amend the location. Please bear in mind that a renter will expect the icon to be close to reality so try to avoid locating it too far from the true location.
This can be done either at the time of adding your property, or at a later date via the "Edit Photos" link in the "Manage Properties" tab. You will be presented with the upload photos form so browse to the selected photos on your PC, using Ctrl or Cmd to select multiple images, and then click the “Start Upload” button to begin. The photos must be landscape and smaller than 8MB.
Yes. Log in and then click on "Manage Properties". Hover over your property and you will see a “Edit Photos” link appear on the right hand side. Click it and then follow the on screen instructions towards the bottom of that page.
Under "Manage Properties" or "Manage My POI" click the "Edit photos" link and then scroll down to the "Select Main Photo" section. Choose the photo you want as your main picture and click the "Save Changes" button.
Under "Manage Properties" or "Manage My POI" click the "Edit photos" link and then scroll down to the "Delete photos" section. Mark the check box for each photo you wish to delete and click the "Delete" button.
A Tourist Destination (TD) is a nearby attraction or broad area that a renter might search by instead of the traditional region/town based search. For example "Disney World" or "Loire Valley" or "Catskill Mountains". The idea is inspired by renters who are travelling to experience a destination rather than to visit a specific town/city.
Linking TD’s to your listing is easy! Log in and then click on "Manage Properties". Hover over your property and you will see a "Search Options" link appear on the right hand side. Click it and then follow the on screen instructions. If you enter a TD that already exists you can link to it immediately. However, if you enter a TD that doesn’t yet exist in our database, it will be forwarded to us for moderation. Moderation is usually completed within 24 hours.
Your property is attached to the town/city that you choose when first adding it to our website. However we realise that this can be limiting if you are in less well known town or village. As such you have the facility to link a further 5 towns/cities to your property, in an effort to help renters find you. For example you may be located in a small town outside Bordeaux that a renter might never search for, in which case you can add Bordeaux as a nearby town/city. Hey presto, a renter can find you!
Linking additional towns/cities to your listing is easy! Log in and then click on "Manage Properties". Hover over your property and you will see a "Search Options" link appear on the right hand side. Click it and then follow the on screen instructions. If your required town/city is not in our list then please email us and we will gladly assist. All emails are responded to within 24 hours.
It’s a "Point of Interest", for example your favourite restaurant, golf course, etc. We strongly recommend listing POIs because renters will really value your local knowledge and it should enhance your listing; you are the one who knows the area and it’s hidden gems better than anyone else.
Select "Add New POI" from "My Page" and then complete the form adding as much information as you can.
You must link your POI’s to your property before they will be displayed in the listing. You can do this by clicking on the "Edit Getaway Guide" link under the "Manage Properties" tab. You have the ability to link both your POIs and other peoples’ POI’s. Simply follow the instructions on the "Edit Getaway Guide" page.
Where an owner has more than one property, some POI’s may not be relevant to all those properties. This is particularly relevant where an owner has properties in more than one city or even country. In these circumstances it is important for the owner to be able to link certain POI’s to certain listings. We also wanted to give you the ability to add POI’s created by other owners in your area.
These allow a renter to add listings that they like to a shortlist, making the search process easier to manage. Where someone has shortlisted a property, it will show up on the owner listing as a “Short-listed” count. The same process is used for POI’s and this can be useful for a renter post booking to start planning their holiday.
The count allows owners to see how many times the property has been viewed since it was listed. Only unique views are counted which means the count will only be increased once per user session.
If you wish to cancel your account then email us at unsubscribe@getawayearth.com or visit our contact page and we will help you close your account.
Hopefully the questions above should provide most of the information you need. However, if not, then please email us at info@getawayearth.com or use the contact page to send us your queries.
