Full Details

This is the San Stephanos, (Avliotes) of the North West coast, not to be confused with resort of the same name on the North East coast. Also, just to confuse matters further it is also referred to as San Stefanos. (Agios means Saint in Greek, therefore you may see both of them referred to as Ag. Stefanos also.)

On a particularly energetic day a walk over to San Stephanos from Arillas is worthwhile for a change of scenery or a lazy day on it’s large sandy beach.

Less than 30 years ago, Ag. Stefanos was a small fishing village with a few houses, a beautiful church and a small picturesque harbour, which has since been replaced but the remains can be seen. There was also a quite wide, deep river that divided the beach into two. Today the river makes it to the sea only during the wintertime.
The Beach:
*The water is very shallow which makes it very safe for young children.

*Apart from the usual beach activities of swimming, sunbathing (sun beds, umbrellas, showers and toilettes avail’) and sport activities, you can also rent a motor boat to sail to nearby beaches and the small islets of the area.

*A few beach bars and tavernas overlooking the beach.
