Beautifully designed 4 bedroom holiday rental in Kommetjie. Just a short stroll from magnificent Kommetjie Long Beach with spectacular views towards Hout Bay and Table Mountain. Kommetjie is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful and completely unspoilt treasures of Western Cape. Enjoy peace, tranquillity, unspoilt beauty and stunning sunsets in this wonderful Kommetjie holiday rental.
Isolated by majestic mountains, Kommetjie is delightfully rural and unspoiled. Although being conveniently close to Cape Town, the atmosphere of Kommetjie, even in peak season when holiday resorts are bustling, is one of peaceful isolation.
This Kommetjie holiday rental has 3 double bedrooms each with en suite bathroom. The fourth bedroom is not en suite, but there is a large family bathroom next door. There are 2 sofa beds in the house so it can accommodate 8-10 people very comfortably.
The main accommodation and stunning deck is laid out on first floor. At garden level there is a large double bedroom, plus a TV room with satellite TV, enjoying direct access to the garden, pool and double garage.
The holiday rental is beautifully furnished and all white goods, appliances and crockery are brand new. Kommetjie House is situated only 40 minutes from the Cape Town International Airport and vibrant V&A waterfront. It is well located for Cape Point, Simonstown and the False Bay area.
From whichever route one approaches the hamlet, the drive promises to be a scenic delight. Across Ou Kaapse Weg one approaches Kommetjie via the Silvermine Nature Reserve and has the panoramic view first of False Bay and the Cape Flats and then of Long Beach and the Llandudno mountain range.
From Hout Bay Chapman's Peak Drive curves along the Mountain edge and provides a dramatic visual display of mountain and sea where every corner offers a new surprise of contrasts. From Muizenburg one travels along the rugged coast through the delightful towns of Kalk Bay and Fishhoek with a glimpse of Simon's Town. This is the drive called the Cape Peninsula Scenic Route.
Boulders Beach is just 20 minutes from Kommetjie on the False Bay (Indian Ocean) coast, so not only is the scenery stunning, but you'll find an interesting wildlife relationship in action: here it's the penguins who rule and the people who make way for their diminutive neighbours.
If you drive through Kommetjie village and begin the climb around the mountain you will find yourself on a wonderfully scenic drive with many photo opportunities. The Slangkop Point Lighthouse is a fantastic sight in the evening and the best spot for spectacular sunsets. Follow the road to Scarborough, passing through the very aptly named and picturesque Misty Cliffs. In Scarborough you will find The Camel Rock Restaurant.
Continue to the T-junction at Redhill where, just before the junction on the left, you will find a small curio shop. Turn right at the junction and there is a much larger curio shop plus the Red Rock Restaurant. This has been well reviewed by local publications.
If you continue past the Red Rock Restaurant the road will eventually take you to Cape Point. But if you go in the opposite direction you will suddenly find yourself above Simon’s Town. Stop for a moment to admire the view. Simon’s Town is the home of the South African Navy and you will see the docks and the navy boats below, looking like toys. Simon’s Town also has a Toy Museum.
Drive south through Simon’s Town to Boulder’s Beach, the home of the African penguin. Overlooking Boulder’s Beach is The Seaforth Restaurant, an excellent venue for lunch or dinner.
Head north from Simon’s Town, with False Bay on your right, and you will find Dixie’s Restaurant in Glencairn. The view from the outside tables, across False Bay, is wonderful. The food is good, too!
Follow the road through Fish Hoek, always full of traffic, and into Kalk Bay. In the harbour at Kalk Bay is a quirky shack called Kalky’s. It’s fish and chips at their very best, and at an extremely low price. Don’t expect fine dining and fancy service. This is just very good food for very little money. If you’d prefer something a bit more up-market try Harbour House next door. It offers an extensive menu with fish and seafood a speciality. Also in the harbour area is the Live Bait restaurant. Next to the station in Kalk Bay is another excellent restaurant called The Brass Bell.
After Kalk Bay you will come to St. James. At the railway station you will find an unusual restaurant and wine bar called Octopus’ Garden. You can sit in the garden at the back and watch the trains stop at the station and the clear, blue ocean beyond.
You will eventually come to the sprawling town of Muizenberg from where you can join Boyes Drive back to Kalk Bay. This drive takes you above Muizenberg and St. James, so you have a view of the whole of False Bay. It is quite spectacular.
