WHERE?!
This is the normal response we get from people when we mention Gozo! Maybe this is actually a GOOD thing! When we first went on holiday there we were frankly astonished, not only by the majestic beauty of the island, but the sense of tranquility and peace were totally soul satisfying, even in the height of summer! As I left the island on the ferry back to Malta that balmy summer's afternoon, I swore I would return..........
Our luxury 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom ground floor apartment with swimming pool and countryside views is ideally situated very close to everything you need for the perfect holiday.
The apartment is situated on the edge of the peaceful historic village of Gharb, just 5 mins drive from the capital of Victoria and 15 mins from the ferry.. There's a bus stop across the road, a super mini market with off license, deli and fresh meat/veg next door but one, three of the best restaurants on the island (Jeffrey's Tatitas Salvina) within easy walking distance and a selection of shops/bars etc in the village. There's a small children's playground nearby, and it is within very easy reach (approx 1.5 miles) of all the main diving spots and beaches. The Craft Village is just up the road, as is Ta' Pinu.
Built from the local honey coloured .stone, the ground floor apartment is in a block of 6 with it's own private patio, and looks out onto open countryside. The shared pool is roomy and has a south facing pool-side seating area... Exposed beams are supported by carved stone corbels and the high ceilings and tiled floors together with natural light in every room add to the ambiance. All bedrooms and the lounge have air conditioning (payable locally). There's even a small internal courtyard with a tap for you to wash off your wetsuits, or just relax with a drink in the shade.
Living area
A very spacious living area overlooks the pool and the surrounding countryside. Designed with your comfort in mind, there's a massive L-shaped 6 seater sofa, a dining area, large flat screen TV with english channels, DVD, surroundsound, PSP2 and a good selection of games, movies and books! We have recently added an iPod docking station in response to guest feedback. All complimented by contemporary lighting and decor!
Kitchen
The fully-equipped kitchen area has dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, cappuccino machine, kettle, toaster, juicer, oven/grill, halogen hob, extractor, double sink, fridge/freezer etc - just like you would expect! Oh and a good set of knives!
Dining
The seperate dining area overlooks the patio and has seating for 6 people.
Bedrooms and Bathrooms
There are 3 spacious double bedrooms (one kingsize, 2 large twins), 2 of which are en-suite and there is a 3rd shared bathroom. Cool, white cotton bedlinen combined with really good beds and romantic decor will ensure your comfort. Floor standing fans are also provided. Bedside lighting, clothes storage, and mini fridges are provided in all bedrooms. Of course we also supply extra bedding should the nights be a little chilly in winter.
The bathrooms all are "wet room" style, so no getting tangled up in soggy shower curtains, and have the latest glass fittings, dual head thermostatic chrome showers, slate style tiling and also include illuminated, demisting mirrors with shaver points and blue lighting for night time visits!. Wall heaters and fluffy white towels and robes complete the experience.
Outside
Our private patio area is equipped with BBQ .table, chairs, parasol and recliners as well as lighting for those wonderful balmy evenings. The pool area has a south facing patio and is equipped with loungers. The front entrance has an intercom system, marble tiling and lighting. There is a lift to the other 2 floors and the underground garages.
The swimming pool is filled with pure clear spring water from a well that has supplied the village with water for thousands of years! (but it is chlorinated!)
There is plenty of parking available outside the property.
The internal courtyard leads off the master bedroom for relaxing with a drink in the shade or just reading the paper at breakfast time, and is planted with Jasmine which wafts into the bedrooms at night. There's a retractable washing line and pegs and even a tap for you to wash off your wetsuits, plus somewhere to hang them!
The apartment is equipped with broadband / wifi and a laptop to enable you to keep in touch. All FREE! Digital TV is also provided. There's AC and heating in the lounge and all the bedrooms and wall heaters in the bathrooms (payable locally).We provide dishwasher powder, washing powder and fabric conditioner. Oh and we'll pop a couple of bottles of wine in the wine rack!
Should you have any problems during your stay, we have a local property manager on the island who will be more than happy to help.
We have spent a lot of time over the last 20 years travelling the globe with our work. It's not as glamorous as it sounds (honestly!). Nights spent on dreadful hotel beds and showers where you have to run around just to get wet are a source of constant irritation! This is why it was really important to us to create an environment with all the comforts of home. It is also important to us to reflect the peace and tranquility of Gozo in our property. In short, this is somewhere to unwind, relax and generally shrug off the cares of the world - just what a holiday is designed to do.
Our aim is to provide cost-effective holiday accommodation with the standards that one would expect from a luxury hotel. Good beds. Good showers. Not a lot to ask really!
