Travel Deals

The intention of our travel deals section is to help you find the best possible deal for all your other travel requirements. We would like you to hang around on our site for a little longer rather than leaving once your holiday property is secured. So please stick around and see whether any of the below is helpful. And feel free to let us know if it’s not; we’ll look at changing it.

Flights

If you are looking to find the best possible flight deal then you will know that the internet is full of sites offering cheap flights to all range of destinations. So where do you start. We like the following sites:

Of course airlines do run sales directly on their websites and we will aim to bring you a selection of those as and when they are available.

Car Hire

Unless you know of a specific deal direct with a hire or rental car company, we would advise against manually comparing prices; you’ll only end up driving yourself mad! Instead try some of the following comparison sites:

Always watch out for the hidden extras, for example additional drivers and insurance, and do try to pay for necessary costs before you leave rather than at the rental location where it can often cost a fortune.

It's also worth a quick check on some of the many voucher sites which usually give minimum 10% discounts or free upgrades direct with rental car companies. There are many to choose from, we’ve listed two here:

Travel Money

With so many places offering foreign exchange services it’s now harder than ever to really understand the best deal. So don’t bother searching, simply use the following site:

It's a Martin Lewis company, very easy to use and will take all the hassle out of finding the best deal.

Insurance

Like many of the above we consider the best way to search for travel insurance is via a price comparison site like www.moneysupermarket.com/travelinsurance.

Mobile/CellPhone Use

We all know that making and receiving calls whilst abroad can be ridiculously expensive. But with a bit of forward planning you can greatly reduce those costs.

For a start if you are travelling with a laptop or have an iphone, why not call using skype. Go to www.skype.com for more information on how to set it up. For the iphone, visit the app store to download the skype app for free.

Don’t use your mobile network, instead buy a phonecard which is usually a far cheaper price per minute.

If you do have to use your phone to stay in contact with friends and family at home, then why not ask them to call you. Receiving a call is cheaper for you, and your friends at home only pay the normal price of calling a mobile (which admittedly is still not necessarily cheap!).

Finally check with your mobile network provider prior to travelling whether they have any special deals for purchasing blocks of roaming minutes.
